Raheem Sterling makes a conditional return to the England squad in the World Cup quarterfinals

Raheem Sterling, England’s striker, will only return to the squad for the 2022 World Cup if his family’s safety is guaranteed.

Sterling’s Surrey home was targeted on Saturday night, while he was preparing for England’s last-16 match against Senegal in Qatar.

Paige, the Chelsea star’s partner, and their children were not at home when the burglary occurred.

After the traumatic occurrence, the 27-year-old travelled back to the United Kingdom on Sunday to be with his family.

Following England’s 3-0 win against Senegal, manager Gareth Southgate stated that Sterling will be given “as much time as he needs” before returning to the squad.

Sterling, on the other hand, will put his family’s safety first before deciding whether to return to Qatar.

A source told The Sun: “Raheem has told everyone, ‘There is no way I’m going anywhere unless I’m 100 percent sure that my family can be kept safe’.”

On Saturday, England will face France in the World Cup quarterfinals.
