Rivers: Bashir Ahmad Warns Wike Against Importing PDP Politics Into APC

A former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, against taking actions capable of causing internal disruption within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ahmad warned that Wike’s continued political posture and rhetoric were incompatible with the values and internal discipline of the APC, stressing that the governing party had no room for what he described as the “spirit” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

PulseNets learnt that the warning followed an escalating exchange between the FCT Minister and the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, over party loyalty and political conduct, particularly in Rivers State.

Reacting via a post on X, Ahmad aligned with Basiru’s position and clarified that Wike’s public support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not translate into automatic membership of the ruling party.

“The National Secretary of the APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has reminded Nyesom Wike that his support for President Bola Tinubu does not automatically make him a member of the APC,” Ahmad wrote.

He further argued that political support for the president cuts across party lines and should not be misconstrued as defection or entitlement within the APC structure.

“Millions of non-APC Nigerians also support Mr President, and his own is no different,” Ahmad stated.

PulseNets reported that Ahmad also issued a firm warning against any moves that could destabilise the APC in Rivers State, insisting that such actions would be resisted by party leaders and stakeholders.

“His attempt to destabilise the party in Rivers State will not be tolerated, and he cannot bring the spirit of the PDP into the APC,” he added.

The comments come amid growing political tensions ahead of future electoral contests, with party leaders increasingly sensitive to internal cohesion and loyalty within the ruling party.
