Tinubu's visit to Obasanjo is a sign of peace — APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, claimed that Bola Tinubu, its presidential candidate, visited Olusegun Obasanjo for diplomatic purposes in August of last year.

The Tinubu/Shettima PCC’s spokesman, Kehinde Bamgbetan, said this on Monday when appearing on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Remember that Obasanjo had backed Obi, among other presidential contenders for the 2023 election, in a New Year’s letter to Nigerians, citing a track record of ability and performance.

The former president said that Obi’s age and physical and mental make him a better candidate than other front-runners.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar responded to the endorsement by claiming that it did not represent the views of the majority of Nigerians.

On Sunday, Atiku addressed through a representative of his presidential campaign council.

The support of Obi by Obasanjo, according to his APC opponent Bola Tinubu, was meaningless.

According to Tinubu, Obasanjo lacked the political influence or goodwill necessary in Nigeria to ensure Obi’s victory in the election.

However, the APC insisted that their candidate’s earlier trip to Obasanjo was a sign of goodwill.

“That is what you call diplomacy with elder statesmen. It’s a normal diplomatic move that will show that you’re not out to fight anybody, Bamgbetan said.
