Vinicius Jr. Decides Real Madrid Future as Arsenal Prepare Record Salary Offer
Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has reportedly made a decision regarding his future, with the Brazilian determined to resolve his contract situation this summer to avoid the possibility of leaving the Spanish giants on a free transfer next year.
The 26-year-old attacker has entered the final year of his current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, a situation that has attracted serious attention from Premier League champions Arsenal as they continue their search for a world class addition to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.
Reports obtained by PulseNets indicate that Arsenal’s hierarchy has approved a potential move for the Brazil international at every level, with Arteta said to be a strong admirer of the winger and eager to bring him to North London.
Despite Arsenal’s growing interest, Real Madrid remain determined to keep one of their biggest stars. PulseNets learnt that Jose Mourinho has urged the club’s decision makers against allowing Vinicius to leave before the start of the new campaign, while the player himself has made contract renewal his top priority.
Arsenal, however, are reportedly undeterred by Madrid’s stance and are prepared to table a salary package worth more than £350,000 per week, which would make Vinicius the highest paid player in the club’s history.
PulseNets learnt that fresh contract negotiations between Vinicius and Real Madrid are expected to begin after the forward returns from his hometown of Sao Goncalo, where he has been spending time following the FIFA Club World Cup.
Both the player and the club are understood to be keen on reaching an agreement as quickly as possible. Although uncertainty still surrounds his long term future, Vinicius has reportedly told people close to him that he wants to remain at Real Madrid for many more years.
According to respected Spanish journalist Tomas Roncero, one of the main reasons behind the winger’s stance is his desire to repay the faith Real Madrid showed in him when they signed him as an 18 year old prospect from Brazil.
Speaking on Cadena SER’s El Larguero programme, Roncero revealed Vinicius’ reported position.
“In recent weeks, he has expressed to those close to him that he does not wish to depart without Real Madrid receiving any financial compensation: ‘I cannot leave Madrid without a single euro because Madrid welcomed me at the age of 18, coming from a modest background, facing challenging social and personal circumstances, and they had faith in me.”
“They invested €45 million when it was merely a risk, a promise, nothing more. Madrid has provided me with everything; I cannot leave without ensuring that there is not a single euro left in the bank. I am relaying what he has communicated to his friends.”
Roncero also suggested that while Vinicius’ representatives may adopt a more strategic approach during negotiations, the player has consistently maintained that he does not want to run down his contract.
“Perhaps his agents are more strategic regarding negotiations,” he added.
“But that is what Vinicius is conveying, that he cannot leave Madrid without financial compensation.”
Since arriving from Flamengo in 2017, Vinicius has developed into one of world football’s elite attackers. The Brazilian has scored 128 goals and provided 100 assists in 375 appearances for Real Madrid.
His contributions have helped Los Blancos win 14 major trophies, including three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League crowns.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have already strengthened their squad this summer by signing Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in a deal reportedly worth around £34 million.
The Gunners have also completed the free transfer signing of goalkeeper Illan Meslier and exercised their £35 million option to sign defender Piero Hincapie permanently from Bayer Leverkusen as preparations continue for the new season.
