Wike: Fubara Had No Option But to Return to Political Family, Says Reconciliation Corrected His Mistake

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara had no choice but to return to the political family that brought him into office, insisting that the governor merely corrected a political mistake through reconciliation.

Speaking on Tuesday after inspecting ongoing road projects across the Federal Capital Territory, Wike said Fubara committed no offence by reconciling with his political camp, PulseNets learnt.

The former Rivers State governor also dismissed claims that Fubara’s return should be viewed as an act of forgiveness following their prolonged political dispute.

“He has no option but to return to the political family that made him. I don’t know what you mean by sin. In politics, there is no sin. If someone realises they made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that.

“Politics is not a sin. What matters is recognising that you were on the wrong path and making the right decision.”

Wike further recalled that he had publicly predicted the reconciliation before Fubara eventually announced it, PulseNets reported.

According to the FCT minister, the governor’s decision to openly reconcile with his political family would reinforce ongoing efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
