Wike reveals why Atiku won’t be president

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has claimed that winning any of the three states of Lagos, Kano, or Rivers is a need for becoming president of Nigeria.

This was said by him on Friday in Port Harcourt while answering questions from the media.

Governor Wike was responding to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ongoing political crisis, which was centered on him and the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“In 2015, Buhari won Lagos and Kano states. Also, in 2019, Buhari won Lagos and Kano states, and PDP won Rivers State,” he said.

“Presently, Atiku does not have Lagos and Kano states, and now he said he doesn’t need Rivers State. How can he win?”

Recent PDP conflicts have been related to the party chairmanship, with Wike’s camp calling for Iyorchia Ayu, the party chairman, to step down.
