Dame Patience Jonathan has put an end to speculation surrounding her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, regarding a potential run for the presidency in the 2027 elections. She clarified that her husband has no intention of contesting again.
During a recent meeting with the Greater Igbo Forum (GIF) Worldwide in Abuja, Dame Jonathan explained that her husband has already served in several key political roles, including local government chairman, deputy governor, governor, vice president, and president, and thus has no further political aspirations. She spoke to PulseNets, saying her husband is focused on supporting the current administration and promoting national unity.
“My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again,” she emphasized.
Dame Jonathan reiterated that supporting the present administration is in the nation’s best interest for peace and stability. She further urged the Igbo community to come together and prioritize national unity over personal or political disputes.
“We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she queried.
