Falana addresses the Adeleke and Oyetola case and urges Osun voters to sue INEC

N110bn palliative for senators, reps illegal — Femi Falana

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria named Femi Falana has advised Osun State voters to file a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for squandering their ballots.

On Sunday, he made this claim in an interview with Arise TV.

As may be remembered, the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal dismissed Governor Ademola Adeleke for casting too many ballots at more than 700 polling places during the governorship election.

The tribunal ordered INEC to provide former governor Gboyega Oyetola with a Certificate of Returns.

“What the voters in those areas have to do is to sue INEC for damages that you have wasted my votes,” Mr Falana said.

In addition, Mr. Falana stated that it will be a difficult effort for Adeleke’s attorneys to reverse the tribunal’s decision.

“Looking at the judgement, I believe very strongly that it is going to be a daunting task to impeach the judgement. INEC has to be held completely responsible for what happened.

“INEC will have to go back to the drawing table so that we will not have this experience. INEC will have to put its house in order, If we have this in a presidential election, where you issue one or two reports, it will have a crisis of monumental proportion,” he said.
