Wike appoints another Rivers politician as special assistant 24 hours after first appointment

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced the appointment of Dr. Barivure Fred Kpakol as his Senior Special Assistant on Environment and Waste Management.

A statement signed by the Director of Press in the FCT Administration, Anthony Ogunleye, highlighted Kpakol’s extensive experience and qualifications.

The statement noted that Dr Kpakol holds a doctorate in Banking and Finance from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

It said Kpakol’s notable positions and contributions to public service include serving as Rivers State Commissioner for Agriculture, Rivers State Commissioner for Finance, Vice Chairman of the PDP in Rivers South-East Senatorial Zone, Executive Chairman of Gokana Local Government, and State Secretary of Rivers State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

Yesterday, Wike appointed Michael O. Chinda as his Senior Special Assistant on Land, Urban, and Regional Planning.

Chinda served as a Senior Lands Officer at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing from 1989 to 2004, where he honed his expertise in land administration and urban planning.

He also served as the secretary of Obio Akpor Local Government Council from 2008 to 2010, where Wike served as the executive chairman from 1999 to 2007.

Chinda also served at the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2023 and is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers.
