PulseNets has learned that Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has dismissed reports claiming his property in Abuja was revoked by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Garba Shehu, the former president’s spokesperson, told PulseNets in a statement that the property in question was allocated to the Muhammadu Buhari Foundation, a non-profit organization established by individuals close to the former president.
According to Shehu, “Buhari has no personal property or land seized in Abuja to his name.” He clarified that the land was lawfully acquired with support from well-meaning Nigerians and associates of the former president.
Shehu further reported that the acquisition of the property faced bureaucratic hurdles with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA). He explained that the FCDA had presented an unusually high bill for the issuance of the certificate of occupancy, a charge not typically imposed on similar organizations.

PulseNets also learnt that the revocation of the property by the current minister did not come as a surprise to the former president. Shehu stated, “Buhari, even during his tenure, had made it clear that he was not interested in acquiring additional property in Abuja.”
He emphasized, “Let those jumping up and down in the digital space get their facts right and stop dragging the name of the former president into baseless controversies.”
