Honourable David Alagoa Joins Governor Douye Diri to Celebrate Fallen Heroes on Armed Forces Remembrance Day
NEMBE — Honourable David Alagoa, the Executive Chairman of Nembe Local Government Area, joined Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and other leaders across the nation to commemorate the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day in honour of Nigeria’s fallen heroes.
In a heartfelt address delivered in Nembe, Honourable Alagoa encouraged the people of the local government area to take inspiration from the sacrifices of gallant soldiers who defended the sovereignty of Nembe and Nigeria. He stressed the importance of unity and collective resolve, transcending political differences, to sustain the peace and harmony fostered by the current administration.
“While saluting the bravery and gallantry of our fallen heroes, it is crucial to reflect on their struggles and the conflicts that led them to make the ultimate sacrifice,” Alagoa remarked. “Their legacy should inspire us to walk in unity and speak with one voice to preserve the peace in our land.”
Ambassador Victor I.E. Sagbeha, Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Nembe Chapter, also spoke at the event, describing the day as remarkable. He called on all Nigerians to protect the nation’s unity, honouring the sacrifices of its heroes.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed annually on January 15, pays tribute to soldiers who gave their lives in defence of Nigeria, commemorating the end of the Nigerian Civil War on January 15, 1970.
The solemn event in Nembe included prayers, tributes, and reflections, emphasizing the importance of peace, unity, and patriotism in building a stronger Nigeria.
