FG, States, LGAs Shares N2.001 Trillion July 2025 Federation Account Revenue

The three tiers of government in Nigeria — federal, state, and local government councils — have shared a total of N2.001 trillion from the July 2025 Federation Account Revenue, PulseNets learnt.

The allocation was made at the August 2025 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting, which was held in Abuja, PulseNets reported.

Breakdown of the N2.001 Trillion Distribution

According to a communiqué released to PulseNets on Friday by Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the N2.001 trillion total distributable revenue comprised:

  • Statutory revenue: N1,282.872 trillion

  • Value Added Tax (VAT): N640.610 billion

  • Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL): N37.601 billion

  • Exchange Difference: N39.745 billion

Mokwa told PulseNets that the gross statutory revenue received for July 2025 was N3,070.127 trillion, which fell short by N415.108 billion compared to the N3,485.235 trillion collected in June 2025.

On the other hand, gross VAT revenue in July stood at N687.940 billion, a slight increase of N9.775 billion compared to the N678.165 billion generated in June.

Allocation to the Three Tiers of Government

From the total N2,000.828 trillion distributable revenue, PulseNets learnt the following allocations were made:

  • Federal Government: N735.081 billion

  • State Governments: N660.349 billion

  • Local Government Councils: N485.039 billion

  • Derivation revenue (13% of mineral revenue): N120.359 billion to oil-producing states

For the N1,282.872 trillion statutory revenue, distribution was as follows:

  • Federal Government: N613.805 billion

  • State Governments: N311.330 billion

  • Local Government Councils: N240.023 billion

  • Derivation (13% mineral revenue): N117.714 billion

On the N640.610 billion VAT revenue, PulseNets reported:

  • Federal Government: N96.092 billion

  • State Governments: N320.305 billion

  • Local Government Councils: N224.214 billion

From the N37.601 billion EMTL revenue, the breakdown showed:

  • Federal Government: N5.640 billion

  • State Governments: N18.801 billion

  • Local Government Councils: N13.160 billion

Meanwhile, from the N39.745 billion exchange difference, PulseNets learnt that:

  • Federal Government: N19.544 billion

  • State Governments: N9.913 billion

  • Local Government Councils: N7.643 billion

  • Derivation (13% mineral revenue): N2.643 billion

Sectoral Performance in July 2025

The communiqué further highlighted that in July 2025, revenues from Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Oil and Gas Royalty, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and Excise Duty recorded significant increases.

However, Companies Income Tax (CIT) and CET levies dropped, while VAT and Import Duty saw only marginal gains.
