CVR Update: INEC Reports Over 6.2 Million Nigerians Have Completed Online Pre-Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced thats its ongoing nationwide continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise has attracted a total of 6,232,673 online pre-registrations, while in-person registration has already crossed the one million mark as at September 28.

This development was obtained by PulseNets from the commission’s latest weekly update released on Monday.

According to the sixth-week breakdown of the online pre-registration figures, 52.15 per cent of applicants were female, while 2,982,335 representing 47.85 per cent were male.

The update further revealed that 4,230,715 of the total applicants were youths aged 18 to 34 years, underscoring the dominance of young Nigerians in the exercise. In addition, 1,565,824 of the registrants were students, while 137,865 were persons living with disabilities (PWDs).

INEC also reported that by the close of week five, the number of registrants who completed both their online and physical processes stood at 537,743 for online applicants and 466,389 for those who registered in person.

The figures showed that of the combined total, 555,077 representing 55.28 per cent were female, while 449,055 representing 44.72 per cent were male. Youths between the ages of 18 and 34 accounted for 742,379 of the completed registrations, while 354,406 were students, and 13,987 were PWDs.

An INEC source who spoke to PulseNets noted that,

“The statistics confirm the growing participation of Nigerian youths, women, and students in shaping the democratic future of the country.”

The commission emphasised that the CVR exercise remains open nationwide, encouraging eligible citizens to take advantage of the window.
