Davido Appointed Chairman of Osun State Sports Trust Fund to Drive Youth and Sports Development
Nigerian global music icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund, PulseNets learnt.
The announcement, obtained by PulseNets from an official statement released on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to revitalise and modernise Osun’s sports sector.
According to details obtained by PulseNets, the Sports Trust Fund was established to mobilise private and institutional resources towards upgrading sports infrastructure and nurturing young talents across the state.
Government sources told PulseNets that the decision underscores Governor Ademola Adeleke’s renewed commitment to youth empowerment and sports-driven community development.
Confirming the appointment, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Sports, disclosed that the multi-award-winning artist “was genuinely thrilled about the offer and accepted it without hesitation.”
Adewusi further revealed plans to complete the rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards, adding that the state was “finalising arrangements to inaugurate the Osun State Sports Commission — a body that will coordinate sports development and policy implementation across all levels.”
He told PulseNets that the newly created Sports Trust Fund, now chaired by Davido, would serve as a catalyst for attracting local and international investments into Osun’s sports ecosystem.

“With Davido’s influence and network, we are confident that substantial resources will flow into the state to boost sports infrastructure, discover young talents, and make Osun a model for sports development in Nigeria,” Adewusi stated.
