Tinubu to Meet Donald Trump Over Christian Genocide Claims and Security Cooperation

The Presidency has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to hold a high-level meeting with his United States counterpart, Donald Trump, in the coming days, PulseNets learnt.

Sources within the Presidency told PulseNets that the planned meeting is expected to focus on recent allegations of a Christian genocide in Nigeria, a claim that has drawn global attention and reactions from Washington.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, confirmed the development, explaining that the two leaders will also deliberate on broader security and counterterrorism collaborations between both nations.

Posting on X, Bwala wrote that “President Bola Tinubu and President Donald Trump share a mutual commitment to fighting insurgency and every form of terrorism that threatens humanity.”

PulseNets obtained that Trump had recently expressed strong criticism of the Nigerian government, accusing it of failing to protect Christian communities from extremist attacks. In his remarks, the former U.S. President was quoted as warning that America could withdraw all forms of aid and assistance to Nigeria if the killings persist.

Trump was also reported to have threatened possible military intervention to eliminate terrorist groups allegedly responsible for targeting Christians in parts of the country.

Bwala told PulseNets that the forthcoming meeting would reinforce the existing partnership between Abuja and Washington, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing and defense support. He noted that “Trump’s administration had earlier approved critical arms sales to Nigeria, which President Tinubu’s government has effectively deployed in strengthening national security.”

He added that both presidents are expected to issue a joint communiqué after the meeting, reaffirming their shared vision for global peace, religious freedom, and counterterrorism cooperation.
