VeryDarkMan Confirms He Initiated Police Arrest of Harrison Gwamnishu, Says Leaked Auchi Video Was “Gaslighting”

Social media commentator and controversy magnet VeryDarkMan has openly acknowledged placing the call that triggered the arrest of activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who remains in police custody in Benin, Edo State. His admission followed growing online speculation over what transpired in Auchi prior to the arrest.

In a video released on Friday, he confirmed that Gwamnishu was picked up on Thursday night, stating that he personally contacted security operatives after receiving troubling accounts of an incident involving the activist. PulseNets learnt that the influencer had been privately briefed by multiple sources before escalating the matter to authorities.

He revealed that the information he obtained left him “deeply disappointed,” leading him to advise witnesses not to publicise the issue. However, a video later surfaced online, contradicting that initial agreement and prompting him to confront those who shared it.

According to him, one of the individuals behind the leaked clip claimed he posted it only to clear his name after being linked to the matter. VeryDarkman criticised this approach and expressed further displeasure with what he described as a “strategic” response video made by Gwamnishu.

He accused the activist of attempting to sway public sentiment by presenting a distorted narrative, insisting that the video amounted to “gaslighting” despite Gwamnishu being aware of the actual facts.

PulseNets obtained information suggesting that police officers at the scene had instructed those present not to record, but one person still managed to capture a short clip showing Gwamnishu returning money allegedly tied to the case. VeryDarkman noted that the activist’s truck is currently impounded at the station in Edo State.

Dismissing speculation that jealousy or rivalry influenced his actions, the commentator maintained that his intervention was driven purely by a desire to uphold “the truth.”

He added that once Gwamnishu regains his freedom, he expects him to “come out and say the truth” about what happened in Auchi. He cautioned that he may be compelled to release further details if that does not happen.

VeryDarkman stated:

“Harrison Gwamnishu is in police custody in Benin, Edo State. He was arrested last night, and in all honesty, I initiated the call that led to his arrest. I did. I’m disappointed, but I’ll wait for him to come out, and this time, I want him to use his own mouth to say the truth about what happened in Auchi.”

He continued:

“When they called me and told me what happened, I was shocked. I made more calls, spoke to the police, asked different questions, and when I confirmed the story was true, I became sad.”

Speaking on Gwamnishu’s reaction, he added:

“I went online and saw that he had made a video. When I watched it, it was pure gaslighting, especially because I know the truth. It was disappointing to see him try to change the narrative and emotionally manipulate people.”

He concluded:

“He’s in custody. I made that call. When he comes out, I hope he will tell the public the truth. As for the money, whether he took it or not, this is the video showing when he returned it.”
