Rivers Assembly Confirms Chief Judge Received Misconduct Allegations Against Fubara, Deputy

The Rivers State House of Assembly has confirmed that the Chief Judge of the state has formally received and acknowledged official correspondence detailing allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu.

PulseNets learnt that the confirmation was contained in a statement released by the Assembly’s spokesperson and Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints, Hon. Dr. Enemi Alabo George.

According to information obtained by PulseNets, the lawmakers disclosed that the correspondence forwarded to the Chief Judge included all necessary documents, with the notices outlining the allegations against both the governor and the deputy governor duly attached.

Speaking on the development, Dr. Enemi Alabo George told PulseNets that “the notice has been received and duly acknowledged by the appropriate judicial authority,” reaffirming the Assembly’s position on the matter.

PulseNets reported that the move followed Friday’s plenary sitting of the House, during which lawmakers reiterated their resolve to continue with the impeachment process that was initiated last week.

The statement further indicated that the legislators reviewed the constitutional basis for their action and resolved to proceed in accordance with Section 188(3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
