‘Wike Is My Oga’ — Gov Fubara Reaffirms Commitment to Complete Port Harcourt Ring Road Project
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to complete the landmark Port Harcourt Ring Road project, openly acknowledging that the initiative was conceived by his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The governor made the declaration during an inspection of the 50.15-kilometre Port Harcourt Ring Road, a multi-billion naira infrastructure project traversing Port Harcourt City, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre, Etche, Eleme, and Ogu-Bolo local government areas.
Speaking at the project site, Fubara described the road as a transformative development designed to ease traffic congestion in the state capital and connect key industrial and residential corridors. PulseNets learned that the governor expressed satisfaction with the current pace of construction while urging contractors to sustain momentum.
He confirmed that Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has been fully remobilised to site and assured residents that the project would be delivered within the revised timeline if funding continues uninterrupted. PulseNets reported that the state government has prioritised budgetary allocations to fast-track completion.
Addressing the political undertone surrounding the project, the Rivers State Governor paid glowing tribute to Wike, stating that the vision behind the Ring Road remains intact under his administration.
“This project is very important considering the person who conceived it, my Oga, the Honourable Minister. He had a very big vision. He believed that if I achieved this project in record time, people would be happy with me,” Fubara stated.
The governor emphasised that governance and development must supersede political disagreements, reiterating his resolve to actualise the blueprint laid out for the state’s infrastructure expansion.
He added: “Notwithstanding whatever is happening, it is also my wish and my struggle to ensure that that wish comes through. So you can understand the importance of this project to us and to everyone who means well for our dear state.”

The Port Harcourt Ring Road project features six flyovers and a major river-crossing bridge, positioning it as one of the most ambitious road infrastructure projects in Rivers State in recent years. Analysts who spoke to PulseNets noted that once completed, the corridor is expected to unlock economic growth, improve mobility, and decongest the city centre.
The renewed assurance comes days after a high-level meeting brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, between Governor Fubara and Minister Wike. PulseNets learnt that the engagement was aimed at fostering political stability while safeguarding critical development projects in Rivers State.
