ADC Stakeholder Raises Leadership Concerns Over Bayelsa State Transition Committee

Concerns have emerged within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the operational direction of its newly inaugurated State Transition Committee in Bayelsa, as a prominent stakeholder questions the pace and structure of its current activities.

Robert Derek U., an ADC stakeholder in Bayelsa State and a serving member of the committee, spoke to PulseNets in a private interview, where he raised reservations about the committee’s effectiveness and strategic orientation. He made it clear that his position reflects his personal conviction as both a party stakeholder and a member of the State Transition Committee.

Derek told PulseNets that, in his assessment, the committee’s early operations have not provided sufficient clarity on strengthening internal party structures, mobilising grassroots participation, or positioning the ADC for sustainable political growth across Bayelsa State.

He further told PulseNets that the present leadership of the committee has yet to demonstrate the level of strategic visibility required at this critical stage, particularly in advancing membership registration and deepening the party’s footprint across local government areas.

“The ADC in Bayelsa requires deliberate and visible leadership engagement to energize members and attract new entrants into the party. Unfortunately, the present leadership approach does not reflect that urgency or coordination,” Derek said.

PulseNets learnt that Derek also expressed concerns over the handling of advisory contributions within the committee, suggesting that internal recommendations from members have not been sufficiently considered.

“Many of the suggestions and constructive advice we have put forward to the committee leadership have fallen on deaf ears,” he noted.

According to information obtained by PulseNets, the stakeholder emphasised the importance of inclusiveness and collective decision-making in shaping the party’s trajectory, particularly at a transitional stage.

Derek maintained that the current leadership structure, in his view, does not fully represent the broader interests of the ADC in Bayelsa. He stressed that decisions that will define the party’s future must be inclusive, strategically coordinated, and aligned with long-term organisational objectives.

He reiterated to PulseNets that his remarks are motivated by his commitment to the unity, growth, and institutional sustainability of the African Democratic Congress in Bayelsa State.
