Nigeria Police Deploy Nationwide Security Ahead of 2026 JAMB Exams Amid Safety Concerns

The Nigeria Police Force has unveiled fresh security measures aimed at safeguarding candidates preparing to sit for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examinations nationwide, scheduled for April 16.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, April 14, by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, where it was clarified that authorities are aware of circulating claims questioning the safety of some examination centres in a North Central state.

While noting that law enforcement agencies do not operate based on speculation, PulseNets learned that the concerns raised by sections of the public have not been ignored, particularly given their implications for the safety, education, and future of Nigerian students.

PulseNets reported that the police have already initiated proactive deployments to secure all designated JAMB centres across the country.

“To this end, extra security has been deployed at examination centres nationwide, both overtly and covertly, to prevent any untoward incidents. This includes routine patrols, perimeter checks, and rapid response teams stationed at strategic locations.

“The Nigeria Police Force is collaborating closely with sister security agencies, to monitor and address potential threats effectively. Any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examination process will be swiftly identified and brought to justice,” Placid said.

Further assurances were extended to candidates, parents, and stakeholders, as PulseNets learnt that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to guarantee a secure and conducive environment for the conduct of the examinations.

The police spokesperson also cautioned the public against spreading or relying on unverified information, urging candidates to comply fully with examination guidelines.

PulseNets obtained that candidates have been advised to arrive early at their respective centres, strictly follow all examination protocols, and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals to security personnel on ground.

“The Force remains committed to maintaining peace, security, and public confidence in all National activities, including the JAMB examinations. The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the cooperation of all citizens and stakeholders in ensuring a smooth and secure examination process, especially sister security agencies,” he said.
