Ijaw Leaders Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori for 2027 as Otuaro Leads Massive Delta Rally
The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, alongside other prominent Ijaw leaders, has led a large-scale endorsement of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as preferred candidates for the 2027 elections.
The endorsement was delivered by thousands of Ijaw people during a grand reception held in honour of the Delta State governor. The event, organised by Delta Ijaw Political Leaders, took place in Bomadi, the administrative headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area on Wednesday.
PulseNets learnt that the formal motion backing both the president and the governor for a second term was moved by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Julius Pondi, and seconded by Delta State lawmaker, Hon. Kenneth Oboro. The motion was subsequently subjected to a voice vote presided over by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, commended his Delta counterpart for what he described as deliberate and strategic efforts toward the development of Ijaw communities across the state.
PulseNets reported that key political stakeholders, including the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, President of the Ijaw National Congress, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, and the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, applauded Governor Oborevwori for his visible infrastructural and developmental footprint in Ijaw areas.
Traditional rulers operating under the Delta Ijaw Traditional Rulers Forum conferred the revered title “Izonebimiewei” meaning “the man that does good for Ijaw people” on Governor Oborevwori, in recognition of his contributions and commitment to the development of Ijaw communities.
Among the royal fathers present were the Chairman of the Delta Ijaw Traditional Rulers Council and Ebenana-owei of Ogulagha Kingdom, HRM Joseph Timiyan; the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, HRM Pere Kalanama VIII; the Ebenana-owei of Tarakiri Kingdom, HRM Danladi Foubiri Owoupele, Angulu I; the Ebenana-owei of Operemor Kingdom, HRM Ekio-emi John Owei-agbe; and the Ebenana-owei of Kabowei Kingdom, HRM (Barr) Peremobowei Shedrach Erebulu, Audio III, among others.
An elated Governor Oborevwori expressed deep appreciation to the Ijaw people for the honour bestowed on him, noting that their overwhelming support made him feel fully integrated within the Ijaw nation.
He further disclosed that his administration has committed over N400 billion to the development of Ijaw communities and assured that more political appointments and infrastructural projects would follow.
He said, “I feel highly honoured to be here among the Ijaw nation. For me, this is the highest honour, and I appreciate it. The atmosphere and reception feel like homecoming. Today I feel like an Ijaw man.
“This event is not a surprise to me. God used the Ijaw people and other ethnic nationalities to bring me to office. I cannot forget how the Ijaw nation, at every given time, stood by me during my period of travail. It gave me strength.
“I thank the Ijaw people for the award and for endorsing Mr President and me. I do not take it for granted. I will reciprocate that love through appointments and infrastructure development.”
The gathering also attracted thousands of supporters from the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement 2027, who mobilised massively to the riverine community.
PulseNets learnt that Dr Dennis Otuaro led the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement 2027 delegation to the event, where he urged stakeholders and residents to support leadership that has demonstrated measurable impact across the Niger Delta region.
He maintained that President Tinubu has shown clear commitment to the development of the Niger Delta through strategic projects, including the coastal highway initiative, sustained backing of the Niger Delta Development Commission, and continued strengthening of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
Otuaro argued that the president merits a second term to consolidate on ongoing developmental strides across the region.
He said, “I urge all the members of the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement 2027 to continue with the zeal we have demonstrated here to support Mr President to succeed in his bid for a second term in office.
“I must also say that as Ijaw people, we have done well today by demonstrating our unflinching commitment to the support for this President who has shown a fatherly love and disposition to our people.
“As Ijaw people, we believe the President has done well for our people, and we should reciprocate by ensuring the continuity of this administration that has been good to our people in several areas.
“Also, I align with what our leaders have said that the state Governor has shown exemplary love and commitment to addressing issues of concern in the Ijaw areas of the state.

“As the Governor mentioned in his speech, a leader who initiates and executes projects worth hundreds of billions in our area deserves our endorsement for a second term in office.
“This is our own way of saying thank you to our President and the Governor who have done so well and have brought smiles to the faces of our people.”
The Chairman of the Central Organising Committee of the reception, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, explained that the event was convened as a deliberate show of appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for what he described as bold and impactful development initiatives in Ijaw communities.
