El-Rufai Appears in Court as ICPC Files Fresh 9-Count Corruption Charges in Kaduna

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday arrived at the Federal High Court to respond to fresh corruption charges instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

The development follows renewed legal action by the anti-graft body, which PulseNets learnt has amended its earlier case against the former governor, expanding the scope of allegations tied to his tenure.

The updated charge sheet now carries nine counts, centring on alleged financial misconduct and the conversion of public assets during his time in office, according to details obtained by PulseNets.

Court officials, who spoke to PulseNets, confirmed that El-Rufai was ushered into the court premises under tight security and is expected to enter his plea on the revised charges before the presiding judge. The proceedings form part of a broader probe into alleged irregularities associated with his administration in Kaduna State.

Sources familiar with the case told PulseNets that the former governor had been in ICPC custody ahead of his court appearance, while his legal team is reportedly assembling a robust defence strategy to challenge the allegations.
