Adeleke Officially Joins Accord Party Ahead of 2026 Osun Governorship Election
Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday formally unveiled the Accord Party as his new political home ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The declaration took place inside the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, with national and state executives of the party in attendance.
PulseNets obtained confirmation that the governor had quietly completed his registration with the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, following weeks of extensive consultations with key stakeholders and opinion influencers across Osun State.
According to details learnt through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, major political players in the state were already aware of the reasons behind the governor’s realignment. Adeleke emphasised that the shift was driven by ideological alignment, particularly the party’s long-standing commitment to welfarism.
Offering clarity on the decision, he explained that “we opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.”
While welcoming party leaders to the Government House, the governor stressed the importance of unity as preparations intensify for the 2026 governorship race. He stated that “we are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large.”
Adeleke urged members to remain cohesive and avoid internal division, noting that effective leadership requires accommodating the interests of all groups. Speaking on his experience in the party so far, he told PulseNets that the Accord Party’s philosophy had strengthened his confidence in the new direction. He added that “the focus on people’s welfare should always be at the heart of public leadership. The primary essence of government is the welfare and well-being of the people.”
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of residents, Adeleke said policies and programmes would continue to reflect a welfare-first governance approach. He described the Accord Party as Osun’s new political vehicle, urging residents from Osun West, Osun East, and Osun Central to embrace the platform.
In a rallying call, he declared: “From Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede and beyond, this is our party—our new platform for victory come August next year.”
