Akpabio Returns from London Vacation, Dismisses Health Rumours
President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, on Monday morning returned to Nigeria after what he described as a brief vacation in London — a development that, PulseNets learnt, has finally quashed swirling speculations about his health condition.
Akpabio had earlier travelled to Geneva, Switzerland, where he participated in the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, held between July 29 and 31. Reports gathered by PulseNets indicate that immediately after the conference, the Senate President proceeded to London for a short holiday.
At about 4:00 am on Monday, Akpabio arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. PulseNets reported that he was warmly received at the Presidential Wing by a delegation of senators, close aides, and a cross-section of well-wishers.
Speaking to journalists shortly after his arrival, Akpabio dismissed the rumours making rounds that he had been hospitalised in London. “I was never admitted in any hospital. I am in good health,” the Senate President told PulseNets, assuring Nigerians that the upper chamber is set to deliver a more vibrant legislative agenda as plenary resumes.

The Senate President also defended Nigeria’s robust participation at the International Parliamentary Union in Geneva. According to him, “It was a strategic step towards enhancing democratic governance and strengthening collaboration between the legislature and other arms of government.”
PulseNets learnt that Akpabio’s return not only puts an end to false reports about his wellbeing but also sets the tone for renewed legislative activities at the National Assembly.
