Nigeria’s wealthiest woman, Alakija, separates from her husband after over 30 years of marriage

Folorunsho Alakija, regarded as the country’s wealthiest woman, is reportedly experiencing a marital crisis after more than three decades of marriage to her husband, Modupe Alakija.

The former society matriarch, now a minister of the gospel, has allegedly separated from her spouse at 72 years old, according to The Will newpaper.

According to sources quoted in the report, the couple has been facing frequent disagreements, ultimately resulting in their decision to live separately.

Mr Modupe is said to no longer spend nights in the couple’s highbrow Ikoyi residence in Lagos.

The alleged strain in their marriage has led Mrs Folorunsho to demand utmost privacy, prompting her husband to seek accommodation elsewhere within the Ikoyi neighborhood.

While the reasons behind the reported marital discord remain undisclosed, insiders suggest that the couple has been putting up a united front due to their status in Nigerian society.
