Amusan is Africa’s top athlete, ranking fifth in the world

Paris 2024: Amusan returns for semis as Team Nigeria battles in wrestling, taekwondo

The World Athletics has ranked Oluwatobiloba Amusan as the fifth greatest female athlete in the world and the best in Africa.

Following her outstanding exploits in the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America, Amusan quickly gained international recognition.

The 24-year-old set a new world record of 12.22 seconds in winning the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles.

The athlete from Ogun State also won a gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham City and successfully defended her Diamond League crown.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the track queen of Jamaica, is ranked #1 overall.

Her compatriot, Shericka Jackson is second, with Yulimar Rojas and Sydney McLaughlin in third and fourth positions respectively.
