Aníkúlápó: 5 key lessons to learn from Saro as an Entrepreneur
Firstly, I want to give a big thumbs-up to Kunle Afolayan for putting together this epic movie, truly Nigerians are geniuses
Currently, Aníkúlápó is topping the chart on Netflix Nigeria, which is an amazing feat and I believe it will be nominated for upcoming global Awards and more.
1. Get Skilled
Saro was a skilful Aso oke Weaver, which helped him gain acceptance into the Oyo kingdom through Awarun even though she had an ulterior motive.
As an entrepreneur, Your skill is what will stand you out of the crowd and I have never heard of a skilful person who go broke except sha him village people dey follow am.
2. Start Small and Grow Big
Saro started as a clay moulder even though he was a skilful Aso Oke weaver and build up to the top.
As an entrepreneur, Even if you don’t have everything you need to build your dreams, start with the little things available and keep improving to grow big.
3. Use word of mouth
Saro’s income increased significantly when he was referred by Awarun to make a new aso oke for the Royal family.
As an entrepreneur be intentional about asking your customers & friends for referrals. From my experience and research 8-9% of referrals are always a close sale & deal.
4. Never mix business with pleasure
The downfall of Saro started after sleeping with Arolake the Kings last wife. As an entrepreneur, business and pleasure can never goes hand in hand. (Awo photographers and Artists) I am not calling anyone name
5. Experience is never the best teacher
Saro was being advised by Akanji (Mr macaroni) and Awarun on his sexual acts but he didn’t listen.
As an entrepreneur, the fastest way for you to grow on your business is to learn from those ahead of you in your industry, sometimes it might require you to pay for knowledge. Please pay for their failure and success stories.
Bonus: Be more logical than emotional
Saro’s problems began when he started making decisions based on his emotions. At first, he impregnated Arolake’s servant and got a third wife, but that wasn’t enough he still went ahead to tell the voiceless king Oba Aderoju to give the Princess his 4th wife before he resurrect his only son. That made Arolake empty the gourd and he got killed again.
Share on the comment session any other business lessons you learnt from the Movie Anikulapo.
