Aregbesola Reveals Why Tinubu Will Lose 2027 Elections, Says ADC Will Take Over Power
Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has opened up on why he believes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose the 2027 general elections.
Speaking shortly after commissioning the new ADC State Secretariat along Basin Road, Ilorin, on Saturday, Aregbesola expressed confidence that, despite the grandstanding of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ADC is fast emerging as the people’s choice across Nigeria.
He said the ruling APC’s continuous acts of political intimidation and harassment reveal deep-seated fear rather than strength.
“If the APC is truly confident of its strength, it wouldn’t be this jittery, hounding and hunting the opposition everywhere,” Aregbesola told PulseNets.
“Across Nigeria—from Lagos to Kebbi and Kaduna—our members are being harassed. When a ruling party becomes this restless, it’s clear evidence they are losing popularity. The ADC will be the party to harvest that unpopularity,” he stated.
PulseNets learnt that Aregbesola, while addressing journalists in Ilorin, stressed that the ADC was determined to take over power both at the federal and state levels come 2027.
“Regardless of the noise and showmanship, by the grace of God, the ADC will take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria and in most of the states,” he added.
Weighing in on the recent wave of governors defecting to the APC, the former Interior Minister described such moves as acts of betrayal, asserting that those joining the ruling party are “enemies of the people.”
Similarly, the immediate past governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ADC, also echoed the optimism of the party’s readiness to take over governance.
“The ADC is not just building a structure—it’s building a movement that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians. We are prepared to take the mantle of leadership and restore hope to our people,” Ahmed told PulseNets.

With Aregbesola’s defiance and Ahmed’s confidence, political analysts obtained by PulseNets suggest that the ADC may be positioning itself as the most credible alternative to the APC and PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
