Army Chief Waidi Shaibu Pledges Stronger Security Response in Benue Communities
Residents of communities affected by persistent bandit attacks in Benue State have received fresh assurances of strengthened security following a visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu.
The assurance was given during his maiden operational visit to Nigerian Army formations in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, where he assessed ongoing military activities and interacted with troops on the ground.
During the visit, PulseNets reported that Shaibu disclosed that additional troops had already been deployed to support existing operations aimed at curbing banditry and restoring stability across affected communities.
“Additional troops have already been deployed to reinforce ongoing military operations and strengthen security efforts in the state.”
The Army Chief explained that the purpose of the operational tour was to evaluate the readiness and combat preparedness of army formations operating in the region. PulseNets learnt that the assessment was designed to ensure the military remains strategically positioned to tackle the evolving security challenges confronting Benue communities.
Shaibu also commended officers and soldiers currently deployed in the state, acknowledging their dedication and professionalism while executing security assignments.
“Our core responsibility remains the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity and safeguarding the nation.”
PulseNets obtained further remarks from the Army Chief in which he reassured troops that their welfare would continue to receive priority attention under his leadership.

Describing military service as a noble calling, Shaibu encouraged soldiers to remain disciplined, vigilant and fully committed to their constitutional responsibilities.
He further urged personnel to carry out their duties faithfully and comply strictly with lawful instructions from their superiors as part of broader efforts to strengthen national security and stability.
