Top University Workers Begin Strike Over Unpaid Salaries, Students’ Exams Suspended

There’s going to be total black out of electricity supply on Tuesday and Wednesday due to ASUU protest, PulseNets report.

According to reports, Nigerians are advised to fuel their generator sets between today and tomorrow to have electricity at home.

Security agencies also warned of possible criminal activities as a result of the declaration of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and advised for everyone to take responsibility for his or herself.

WHAT:

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), is planning to carry out a nationwide protest over the lingering ASUU (Academic Staff of University Union) strike. The NLC stated that July 26th and 27th would be National Days of Protest across the country to force the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU to resolve their issues and suspend the lingering strike.

ADVICE:

Avoid all potential areas of protest including Government buildings and tertiary institutions.

Leave an area immediately if you noticed any signs of unrest to reduce your risk of exposure to violence.

Prepare for the possibility of a gradual shutdown of activities if an agreement is not reached by stocking up on essential items

Monitor the situation and if necessary, make plans to adjust planned activities in the area indicated.
