Atiku Demands Gbajabiamila’s Sack, Gives Reason

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over an alleged N400 million bribery scandal.

The former Vice President made the call in a statement issued on Tuesday, insisting that Gbajabiamila’s suspension would pave the way for an independent investigation into the bribery allegation and the controversy surrounding a budget allocation.

PulseNets learnt that the allegation was made by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

PulseNets reports that Gbajabiamila had earlier dismissed the existence of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council in a public statement before the allegation surfaced.

Reacting to the development, Atiku argued that despite the Chief of Staff’s position, the Federal Government earmarked N27.4 billion for the same agency in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

According to Atiku, the apparent contradiction creates significant credibility concerns for the Chief of Staff and raises broader questions about the integrity and transparency of the 2026 national budget.

The former Vice President further warned the Presidency against dismissing the alleged budgetary irregularities with what he described as weak and unconvincing explanations.

He urged President Tinubu to uphold the rule of law above personal affiliations by ensuring that senior government officials are subjected to the highest standards of accountability and transparency.

“How can you allocate N27.4 billion in the budget to a government agency that doesn’t exist without leaving more questions than answers. Good governance is based on transparency and accountability and you can’t achieve that by protecting your family and friends.

“President Tinubu must lead by example by holding his Chief of Staff to the same standards of accountability as other public officials. He must suspend him. N27 billion is not a joke,” Atiku said in the statement.
