Atiku: You can’t use me to get popularity — Wike hits Dele Momodu

Former PDP presidential candidate Dele Momodu has been under fire from Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for recent statements he made.

Wike warned that Momodu would not be able to use him to his advantage.

Momodu, the PDP’s Presidential Campaign Council’s Director of Strategic Communications, had cautioned Wike against going too far by disparaging the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He had pleaded with the governor to avoid making the struggle for equity and justice into a personal grudge.

Reacting, Wike berated the veteran journalist for opting to be a presidential spokesman after contesting to be the party’s flagbearer.

Addressing journalists in Port-Harcourt, Wike said: “I have also read where some people said we should not cross the lines. Ordinarily, I should not have responded to this. I read they said it is one Dele Momodu. These are the things I’m talking about. Ask him. When did he join the party?

“When you just want them to recognize you, from presidential aspirant to becoming spokesperson; somebody who wants to rule Nigeria has become a spokesperson of a presidential aspirant.

“I’m not going to be a party to anybody using me to be relevant. If you don’t have a job, say you don’t have any job, I have a job and I will continue to do my job.”

Since Atiku became a contender for president, Wike and some other PDP governors have been dissatisfied with the party’s leadership.

Their complaint had caused a great deal of strife inside the PDP.
