Bayelsa Govt Shifts Resumption of Model Secondary Schools

Yenagoa – PulseNets learnt that the Bayelsa State Government has officially shifted the resumption date for all 12 Government Model Secondary Schools in the state by two weeks, moving the opening from the earlier scheduled 18th August 2025 to a new date of 1st September 2025.

The Permanent Secretary of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Education, Okene Simon-Peter, confirmed this in a statement obtained by PulseNets, noting that the decision was taken after due consideration of academic and administrative factors.

“Government regrets any inconvenience caused by the extension,” the statement read.

Schools Affected by the Postponement

According to details reported to PulseNets, the affected model secondary schools include:

  • Government Model Secondary School, Ekeremor

  • Southern Ijaw Secondary School (SISO), Oporoma

  • Government Model Secondary School, Sagbama

  • Government Model Secondary School, Brass

  • Government Model Secondary School, Ogbia

Others on the list are:

  • Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa

  • St. Jude’s Girls Secondary School, Amarata

  • Sports Academy, Asoama

  • Nembe National Grammar School, Nembe

  • Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama

  • Ukubie Model Secondary School, Ukubie

  • Kaiama Grammar School, Kaiama

The Ministry told PulseNets that all parents, principals, teachers, and students of the affected schools are advised to take note of the new resumption date and make the necessary adjustments to their plans.
