The prosecution of the police officer who fatally shot Bolanle Raheem has been taken over by the Lagos State Government.
On Christmas Day, ASP Drambi Vandi flagged down Bolanle and her husband and then opened fire, killing the lawyer.
Vandi and his group, who are presently in arrest, were employees of the Ajah police department’s Ajiwe station.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has requested complete information on what happened on Sunday.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made his position on justice for the family known on Tuesday.
To comfort the family at their home in Ajah, Sanwo-Olu dispatched a delegation of senior authorities.
Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Moyo Onigbanjo, SAN, led the team and declared that the state will bring charges in the case.
“We have the permission of Mr Governor to tell you that justice will be done in this matter. The matter will be charged to court as soon as the police send us the case file.
“I will be leading the prosecution to show the seriousness the government attaches to this matter”, Onigbanjo stated.
Sanwo-Olu was hailed for his compassion by Gbenga Raheem, the late Bolanle’s spouse.
The group also included the Head of Service Muri Okunola, the Commissioner for Women and Poverty Alleviation Bolaji Dada, the Commissioner for Information Gbenga Omotoso, and the Special Adviser Tubosun Alake.
