Breaking: Adeleke Clinches Accord Party Governorship Ticket Hours After Leaving PDP

Osun State’s political atmosphere shifted dramatically on Wednesday as Governor Ademola Adeleke secured the Accord Party’s governorship ticket barely 24 hours after severing ties with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His emergence followed the party’s governorship primary held in Osogbo.

Party officials confirmed the development during the brief declaration ceremony. Pastor Victor Akande, the Osun State chairman of the Accord Party, told PulseNets that Adeleke stood as the party’s sole contender, describing the primary as a straightforward affirmation of the governor’s new political direction.

According to Akande, “about 150 accredited delegates were cleared to participate in the exercise, and the party is fully aligned behind the governor’s candidacy.”

He added that the Accord Party views Adeleke’s entry as a “strategic realignment” ahead of the 2026 governorship race, noting that the decision reflects broad internal consensus.

Adeleke, who only recently exited the PDP, was welcomed by supporters at the venue, many of whom described the political switch as a bold recalibration of Osun’s governance trajectory. Party insiders learnt by PulseNets hinted that the governor is expected to address the state formally in the coming days to outline the agenda driving his move.
