A wave of shock swept through Bayelsa State on Thursday following reports that Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, aged 60, has died after a sudden cardiac arrest.

Sources with firsthand knowledge of the incident told PulseNets that the deputy governor collapsed abruptly in his office in Yenagoa during the afternoon hours. He was immediately evacuated by aides and security personnel to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where medical teams fought to resuscitate him.

Medical personnel later confirmed to PulseNets that he was “brought in without signs of life and classified as Brought In Dead (BID) shortly after arrival.”

Security around FMC Yenagoa tightened almost instantly, with senior government officials, close associates, and supporters gathering in visible shock as news of the development spread.

Government insiders who spoke to PulseNets said the Bayelsa State Government is preparing an official announcement, which is expected to be released shortly.
