Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be travelling with Manchester United to Chelsea this Sunday, the team has announced.
In a statement issued by the club on Thursday, this was confirmed.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea.
“The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture,” the statement read.
A day after Ronaldo left Old Trafford early during their 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, United boss Erik ten Hag enforced the punishment.
The hierarchy of the club has endorsed the choice.
Given Ronaldo’s 37-year-old dissatisfaction with being at the club, it is thought that Ten Hag would consent to his departure in the January transfer window.
