Breaking: Tinubu’s govt fixes new date for payment of N35,000 wage award to workers

President Bola Tinubu’s government has announced a new date for the commencement of payment of the N35,000 wage award to federal civil servants in the country.

PulseNets reports that President Tinubu announced the payment of a N35,000 wage award to workers to help cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal during his Independence Day speech on October 1.

It was agreed, during a meeting with the organized labour same day, that the payment of the wage award would commence with immediate effect.

A circular dated October 19, 2023, and signed by the chairman of the National Salaries and Wages Commission, Ekpo NTA, showed that the payment would take effect in September 2023.

The wage award is expected to last for a period of six months.
