A fresh cholera outbreak has claimed the lives of seven people in the Kirikasamma Local Government Area (LGA) and surrounding communities, PulseNets learned.
Several other residents from various communities within the LGA have also been hospitalized due to the outbreak, PulseNets reported.
Confirming the situation, Musa Abdullahi Diladige, the Primary Healthcare Coordinator of Kirikasamma LGA, told PulseNets that the disease has impacted residents of several communities, including Malori, Maikintari, Dilmari, Kirikasamma, and parts of Baturiya village.
Diladige spoke to PulseNets, explaining that the symptoms of cholera include diarrhea, cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever.
In a related development, Muhammad Maisamari, Head of the Department of Water and Sanitation, told PulseNets that health workers have been deployed to the affected communities to provide essential medical services.

In response to the outbreak, the local government council has procured drugs and medical supplies for the treatment of those affected, PulseNets learnt.
Idris Gambo Abubakar, the Director of Administration and General Services, pledged to PulseNets that all necessary assistance will be provided to combat the spread of the disease.
