An Abuja court has granted bail to controversial singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington.
PulseNets learned that the Nigeria Police Force eventually yielded to public pressure and arraigned him in court.
Confirming the development via X, Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, wrote: “Police finally arraigns Speed Darlington in court.
“Bail application moved and granted. We are trying to perfect same.”
The specifics of the bail conditions remain undisclosed at this time.
However, PulseNets reported that Okoye had recently filed a petition to DIG Dasuki Galadanchi, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja, challenging his prolonged detention.
In the petition, Okoye urged the DIG to honor a court order addressing his continued detention by the police.
The singer’s arrest followed his controversial claims against Grammy award-winning artist Burna Boy, alleging an inappropriate relationship with embattled U.S. singer Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy.
