Dauda Lawal Dare emerges Zamfara PDP governorship candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has completed its new Congress, with Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare winning the party’s nomination for governor after receiving 422 votes to defeat two other candidates.

Dare defeated Ibrahim Shehu Bakawuye and Hafiz Nahuce, who each received one vote, by claiming that none of the competitors were visible at the location despite claims to the contrary that they were all present in Gusau, the State capital.

Four votes were deemed illegitimate, according to Phillips Hassan Hyati, chairman of the electoral commission from the party’s national secretariat, who announced the results.

According to PulseNets, security personnel were posted in key areas close to the party secretariat where the Congress was held.

Speaking to reporters following the Congress, the electoral chairman Hyati emphasized that none of the candidates had contested the results and that the Congress was free, fair, credible, and acceptable.

“We did all we could to ensure a perfect congress which by all standards would be regarded as free, fair, credible and acceptable Congress as no member raised any eyebrows” he added.

Hyati, on the other hand, assured the members that they would totally accept the Congress and praised the delegates for their maturity and orderliness throughout the Congress.

When questioned, the delegates who supported Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare said they were happy with how the Congress was run and thought it was ideal.

“We were very optimistic that at the end of the Congress, Dauda Lawal Dare would go away with a landslide victory and he actually did”, they said.
