PulseNets learnt that Deborah Quickpen, in a recent post on her Facebook page, expressed her excitement after clinching two prestigious awards from the 45th Chess Olympiad. She announced, “From the 45th Chess Olympiad to double awards.”
She further disclosed, “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m pleased to announce that I have been voted the Woman Player Of The Year and Young Player Of The Year, 2023.” PulseNets gathered that these awards were given at The John Fawole Chess Awards, with Deborah expressing her gratitude: “I want to thank the organisers, The John Fawole Chess Awards, and everyone who recognised and voted for me.”
The chess player told PulseNets that winning in two categories signified the appreciation for her efforts, saying, “To win these awards in two great categories is a testament to how much you appreciate my efforts.” She added, “I’m deeply grateful to you all and I cherish every support I get. Thank you.”
According to PulseNets, Deborah sees these recognitions as motivation to continue pushing her limits, while also raising awareness about chess. She concluded, “This is a great motivation for me, and I’ll keep giving the best effort required in every competition while working to create more awareness of the game of chess.”
