Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has issued a directive urging Igbos to relocate their investments back to their homeland in the East. This call comes in the wake of ongoing demolition exercises in Lagos, with the organization emphasizing the need for self-reliance and protection of Igbo assets.
In a statement by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze Ndigbo highlighted the disproportionate impact of the demolitions on properties owned by Igbo residents in Lagos. The organization stated that the refusal of certain Igbos to heed the warnings of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has contributed to the perception that Igbos are responsible for their misfortunes in the current situation.
The statement acknowledged investigations and intelligence reports revealing that the loss of investments and properties to the Lagos government and legislators was foreseen by Ojukwu. Ohanaeze Ndigbo sees this as an opportunity for Igbos to reflect on past actions and take measures to safeguard their future.
While expressing that Ohanaeze Ndigbo will not engage in a direct confrontation with Governor Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos government over the demolitions, the organization encourages Igbos to perceive this adversity as a chance to rectify mistakes and protect their investments.
