The suspended chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon Wale Adedayo, has been released by the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
PulseNets reports that Adedayo was detained on Friday, September 2, 2023, based on a petition that he was making inciting comments that could jeopardize public peace.
However, Adedayo told reporters after his release that he had never made any inciting comments. He said he had only alleged that local governments in the state had not received any allocation from the state government in the last two years.
Adedayo said he was unshaken by his travails and that he would challenge his illegal suspension from office. He also said he was surprised that the other local government chairmen in the state had backed out of the struggle to ensure good governance at the grassroots.
The Joint Account and Allocation Committee in the state has dismissed Adedayo’s allegations, saying that all funds approved by the committee have passed through the various local council accounts.
