Easter Celebration: FG Declares April 7th, 10th As Public Holidays

FG Declares May 29 As Public Holiday

For this year’s Easter celebration, the Federal government has declared Friday, April 7, and Monday, April 10, as Public Holidays.

On Wednesday, April 5, Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, made this known in Abuja.

On Wednesday, April 5, Aregbesola asked Christians to imitate the virtues of selflessness, camaraderie, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience that Jesus Christ displayed through His earthly ministry in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore.

The minister advised Nigerians to use the Easter season this year to pray for an end to the nation’s security issues.

“Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry,” Aregbesola said.

The minister gave the assurance that the Federal Government was taking all necessary measures to ensure a peaceful transfer of power after the election process was over.

He also encouraged Christians to love their neighbors by doing good deeds and practicing charity, with the wealthy sharing their things with the neighboring less fortunate. He wished Christians a happy Easter celebration.

Aregbesola advised everyone to harness their creative talents in a productive way to fully realize the impending riches while assuring Nigerians that the nation was on the path to greatness.
