The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed police helicopters and drones to hunt down the criminal elements plaguing the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
This follows the rising tide of banditry and kidnapping on the popular highway.
Sources close to the police confirmed Friday that Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Danladi Lalas, head of the Police Airwing, personally led a team of pilots in an aerial patrol of the highway.
“The IGP has unleashed police helicopters on these undesirable elements making life difficult for innocent travellers,” the source said.
“They were in the air all afternoon roving the highway and the bushes,” the source added.

The source could, however, not confirm any arrests or neutralisations of bandits as of Friday night.
