Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura residence on Monday afternoon. The meeting sparked speculation about El-Rufai’s political future, particularly in light of his recent withdrawal from consideration for a ministerial appointment in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
While the exact purpose of the visit remains unclear, Garba Shehu, a former presidential spokesperson, described the meeting as a “goodwill visit,” adding that Buhari “had a joyous moment” with El-Rufai. This description suggests that the meeting could have been intended as a friendly visit between former colleagues, perhaps to discuss current political affairs or simply to catch up.
However, the timing of the visit, coupled with El-Rufai’s recent withdrawal from the ministerial race, has many questioning its true purpose. Some speculate that it could be an attempt to mend fences with Buhari and potentially seek his support for future political endeavours.

Others believe it could be a sign that El-Rufai is considering alternative political options, perhaps even a presidential run in 2027. It is also possible that the meeting was unrelated to politics and solely intended to foster personal connections between the two former leaders.
