Ogun INEC REC slumps, dies in Abuja

Following the elections on March 18, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has thus far declared 26 candidates as the new governors.

The Labour Party, LP’s Alex Otti was named the victor of the Abia state governorship election on Wednesday.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDPPeter ,’s Mbah won the election for governor of Enugu State as well.

This indicates that 26 out of the 28 governorship elections have had their results announced. Kebbi and Adamawa’s elections were deemed to be invalid.

The All Progressives Congress, or APC, triumphed in 15 states, the PDP in 9, and the LP in 1. In Kano state, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) triumphed.

Seven governors were chosen again by the APC. These are Inuwa Yahaya from Gobe, Mai Mala Muni from Yobe, Abdullahi Sule from Nasarawa, Babajide Sanwo-Olu from Lagos, Dapo Abiodun from Ogun, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq from Kwara, and Babagana Zulum from Babagana (Borno).

Uba Sani (Kaduna), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Mohammed Bago (Niger), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), and Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi) were among the eight new candidates who won for the ruling party.

Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), two PDP governors, won re-election.

Under the PDP platform, seven governors serving their first terms were elected. These individuals are Sheriff Oborevwori, Kefas Agbu (Taraba), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Siminialayi Fubara (Rivers), and Umo Agbu (Taraba) (Delta).

Dauda Lawal of the PDP ousted Bello Matawalle, the governor of Zamfara State, while Abba Kabir of the NNPP ousted the APC in Kano State.
