‘Faze is neutral in my rift with Blackface’ — 2Face
Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Face or 2Baba, has clarified the role of his former Plantashun Boiz bandmate, Faze, in the protracted feud between him and Blackface, PulseNets learnt.
For years, the once-celebrated Plantashun Boiz group has been overshadowed by an intermittent but bitter rift between 2Face and Blackface. As previously reported, Blackface has on several occasions accused 2Face of intellectual property theft following the group’s breakup—claims the Afrobeats legend has repeatedly dismissed.
Speaking midway into his performance at the recent Made in Benue Festival held in Makurdi, 2Face addressed the controversy directly, explaining that Faze has deliberately remained neutral and uninvolved in the dispute, PulseNets obtained.
According to the singer, the disagreement has never extended to him, whom he described as completely separate from the issues between himself and Blackface.
“Everybody knows say Plantashun Boiz na me, Blackface and Faze. Due to certain circumstances, Blackface no dey with us now,” 2Face told the cheering crowd.
“But make una hear am clearly—any wahala wey dey between me and Blackface no concern Faze at all. Faze dey here with me, and together we go still represent Plantashun Boiz,” he added.
The fallout between 2Face and Blackface dates back to the early 2000s, shortly after Plantashun Boiz disbanded. Blackface later publicly blamed 2Face for the group’s collapse and accused him of appropriating songs originally created under the group’s banner.

Despite several reconciliation attempts over the years, the relationship between the two artists has remained fragile, with each peace effort proving temporary. Faze, however, has largely stayed away from the public exchanges, a position 2Face reaffirmed during his Makurdi appearance.
