Female military officer who was abducted is still with her captors — Nigerian Army

On Friday, the Nigerian Army denied reports that the police had saved the kidnapped female military officer.

According to PulseNets, Lieutenant PP Johnson, a female military officer, was kidnapped on December 26, 2022, while visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe, Imo State, by unidentified gunmen.

The background voice in the viral video of her kidnapping and torture warned all Igbo soldiers in the Nigerian Army to quit or risk being kidnapped in the near future.

After a few hours, it was revealed that the Nigeria Police Force had saved the officer who had been kidnapped.

However, according to a statement released on Friday by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, no rescue has yet been carried out despite ongoing search efforts.

“The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to some publications circulating on social media insinuating the rescue of Lieutenant PP Johnson, a female officer who was abducted on Monday 26 December 2022 while visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe in Imo state, shortly after completion of her Cadet training and subsequent commissioning as a Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army.”

He asserts that the actions of these heartless beings should make it abundantly clear to anyone who may still have any doubts about the true nature of these organisations that IPOB/ESN are terrorist organisations disguising themselves as freedom fighters, and they do not deserve any support, especially from the good people of South East Nigeria.

According to him, the Nigerian Army has underlined that the rumours are unfounded because the officer has not yet been freed or rescued from her captors.

He said that the video footage being shared and linked to the officer’s alleged rescue is an old clip of a suspect being arrested by soldiers at a previous time and that the NA was not the source of the information on the officer’s rescue.

The NA pledged to stop at nothing to bring the criminals to justice in the statement that begged members of the public with relevant information on her whereabouts to come forward.
